Sewa Singh Sekhwan(Punjabi:ਸੇਵਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੇਖਵਾਂ) is the Shiromani Akali Dal Member of legislative assembly and Education minister[1] of Punjab who took oath as a cabinet minister for the second time on October 26, 2009 is political stalwart.he has made a long journey of his political career. Sekhwan has political lineage of his father Ujagar Singh Sekhwan who was MLA from kahnuwan in 1977 and 1980.he was founder of Indian minorties and dalit front and worked hard for the down trodden. He remained the president of akali dal during Emergency in India.
Sewa Singh Sekhwan, a teacher by profession, served for 14 years took up the responsibility after the death of this father in 1990.Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, the then SAD president patronized sekhwan as heir of his father and fielded him from kahnuwan assembly in gurdaspur district,he was first time elected MLA in 1997 from kahnuwan.he was made Revenue, Rehabilitation and Public Relations, Minister in the badal government.
beside taking active part in politics,Sekhwan himself is the member of SGPC,the supreme sikh body and his wife amarjit kaur has remained executive body of SGPC.
